YWCA Hamilton: Voices

Witness and Indigenous media

I was fortunate enough to get to attend a video advocacy workshop hosted by YWCA Canada and facilitated by an incredible group called Witness.

Before you read any further, take a minute and check out their website  especially the “about” section.

Pretty incredible, eh?

Today on the Hub they have a really interesting spotlight on indigenous media. Indigenous people worldwide are some of the most marginalized people, often the first victims of environmental degradation and corporate oppression. I love that through this spotlight we get to hear the powerful voices and images of people organizing to fight for their rights, for justice and for their land. Big kudos to Witness for being a conduit for the voices of Indigenous peoples to be heard.

Check it out.
